  • Will electricity prices in Schraplau become cheaper?

    Schraplau has excellent conditions to benefit from lower electricity prices in the future thanks to this project. However, the exact amount and speed of relief depend on several factors – so it’s not yet possible to say precisely how noticeable the savings will be for each household in the short term. What is clear, though: the project lays the foundation for long-term stable and potentially lower energy costs in the region.

  • Does the construction of the project harm the environment?

    The project is not only environmentally compatible but can even make an active contribution to climate protection: by generating clean energy, CO₂ emissions are reduced. Of course, care is taken during construction to conserve land and use materials sustainably or recycle them.

  • To what extent is the project approved?

    Yes, a large part of the project has already been successfully approved – including, in particular, the power lines and grid infrastructure. Other components such as the substation and storage systems are currently in an advanced approval process or in the concrete planning phase.

    This means: the project is on a very good path and is progressing step by step.

  • Noise Protection: How loud is such a facility?

    The facility operates very quietly and generally does not affect the daily life of residents. Thanks to modern technology and effective noise protection measures, the noise level is far below that of normal road traffic – often barely noticeable in everyday life.

  • How large will the facility be?

    For the photovoltaic component, around 500 MW of capacity is planned by 2028. The large battery storage system is also expected to reach 500 MW of power and a storage capacity of 1,750 MWh by then. In a later expansion stage (by around 2035), an increase to approximately 800 MW of capacity and 2,800 MWh of storage is planned – a step toward even more clean, reliably available energy.

  • In a project like the battery storage and solar park in Schraplau, electromagnetic radiation (EMF) mainly comes from transformers, high-voltage cables, and substations. How strong is the EMF?

    The facility does generate electromagnetic fields (EMF), but they are well below the legally permitted limits. Thanks to sufficient distances, enclosures, and compliance with all standards, there is no health risk for residents.

  • What compensation measures are planned?

    The planned compensation measures ensure that ecological impacts are minimized or even offset. In Schraplau, this means, for example, flowering areas, hedges, additional planting, rainwater management, and replacement areas if necessary – all aimed at protecting the local environment and making the intervention sustainable and compatible.
