The energy transition presents major challenges for all of us – but it also opens up unique opportunities. For this transformation to succeed, we need innovative and decentralized solutions: energy should be generated, stored, and used exactly where it is produced. This principle is at the heart of our project – sustainable, regional, and future-oriented.
The Energy Network Weida-Land is a key project for the regional energy transition. On this website, we provide a transparent insight into our goals, the current planning status, and the next steps toward a climate-friendly future.
The initiative is supported by a strong consortium of regionally rooted companies working in close partnership with the participating municipalities. A special concern for us is the active involvement of citizens: through public events, diverse information offerings, and direct interaction via this website.
This creates a project that not only delivers clean energy but also generates added value, jobs, and new perspectives for the entire region.
Regional Value Creation
With local energy generation and storage, value creation remains in the region. Tax revenues, leases, and investments flow directly to the municipalities, strengthening the local economic base.
Grid Relief
When energy is generated and consumed locally, it eases the burden on power grids. The need for new overhead transmission lines decreases – benefiting landscapes, the environment, and resources.
Supply Security
Modern battery storage systems compensate for fluctuations in renewable energy generation. This ensures a stable power supply – even when sun or wind provide less energy.
Our Goal
We shape the energy future in an ecologically sustainable, economically sensible, and socially responsible way. We place the highest value on transparency and active participation – for an energy transition that strengthens the region and involves its people.
The Energy Network Weida-Land stands for a future where clean energy, digital innovation, and regional value creation go hand in hand. Our vision is to generate energy where it is needed, create jobs in the region, and combine environmental compatibility with cutting-edge technology. This creates a strong model project for the energy transition and future opportunities – right on our doorstep.
The course is set: initial resolutions have been passed, suitable sites secured, and the participating municipalities support the initiative. We are currently in the approval process and in negotiations for grid connection.
Implementation will begin in 2028 in several construction stages. Step-by-step realization will minimize local disruptions – while allowing us to respond flexibly to new developments and continuously optimize the project.
Full commissioning is planned by the end of the decade. Even before that, initial plant components will go online and supply the region with clean energy. Step by step, we make an important contribution to supply security and regional value creation.
